This is the new library for Christchurch, designed by the Danish firm Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects in collaboration Architectus. The new library will be built on the northern edge of Cathedral Square. The ground floor will function as an extension to the square, a public space that will encourage people into the building. Apparently. Good to see some progress around the square, Christchurch appears to be coming along nicely but the square has stalled. Sad to see the heart of the city looking so forlorn.
