Twin Palms was designed by E. Stewart Williams for Frank Sinatra, was completed in 1947, and became an instant landmark. The Palm Springs house was built around two palm trees which pilots had aimed for as they approached the airstrip. It was the first home designed by Williams who would go on to become one of Palm Springs most important architects.
Sinatra wasn’t actually as cool as this house suggests. He commissioned a house in the Georgian style but Williams had other ideas and eventually won Frank over.
The story goes that by the pool there was a tall flagpole. When the flag was raised, friends in town knew they could motor out and join Frank and Ava around the famous pool.
