Alvin Lustig must be one of the coolist graphic designers. That's saying something seeing as there have been a few. He's the subject of a lovely book called Born Modern – there may still be a copy at Unity Books if you're interested. He's best known for his book covers (shown here is an album cover) and as an interior and architectural designer. In 1949 he designed a chair for Paramount Furniture which became known as the Lustig Chair, which I believe is still in production. He died age 40, not a bad effort for half a career.
